Projected Lines

Calgary Flames versus Detroit Red Wings

Little Caesars Arena

Detroit, MI

The Flames are on game five of a five game road swing, wrapping up their extended stint as the visitors with an afternoon stop in The Motor City.

Our lineup projections start in the crease, where Dan Vladar will be get his second start of the season after picking up the win Thursday night in Buffalo. His record moved to 1-0-0 this season with an exact 3.00 GAA alongside a .889 Save Percentage.

Jacob Markstrom will take his his 1-2-1 record, .905 SV% and 2.75 Goals Against Average to the bench as the backup.

Lineup Looks:

  • Right wingers will trade places this afternoon, with rookie Matt Coronato shuffling up to the first line into Andrew Mangiapane’s spot, and Mangiapane will take a spin on the third pairing with Backlund and Coleman.
  • Left wingers will also trade places in the Top Six, with Adam Ruzicka moving up to Lindholm’s line and Huberdeau moving down with Kadri.
  • Defender Rasmus Andersson is serving a four game suspension for his hit on Patrik Laine in the game against Columbus on October 20th and is currently not eligible to return until after the Heritage Classic on October 29th.
  • Chris Tanev will bump up to the top pairing alongside Noah Hanifin. Jordan Oesterele will step in to cover for Andersson, and slot into the third pairing with Dennis Gilbert.
  • In a scare, D-Man Dennis Gilbert took a puck to the face in October 18th’s practice but the Buffalo native suited up in front of friends and family on the third D-pairing the next night. Gilbert posted a crucial assist in the winning effort. He’ll be expected to step up in the absence of Andersson.
  • With a little puck luck, winger Jonathan Huberdeau has four points in the season’s first five contests. He’ll look to continue his early pace tonight.
  • With eight points from the blue line so far this year, Calgary’s defenders are chipping in. Noah Hanifin leads the way with four assists, and his partner Rasmus Andersson has 1G and 2A but that number will be stagnant until his suspension is served.
