There’s some news and rumors to address as the Flames prepare to take on the Red Wings today.

-The Flames will end a five game road trip with a stop in Detroit to take on the Red Wings Sunday afternoon. While Detroit hasn’t been a great spot for the Flames, they have won 3 out of the last 4 times they have visited the Motor City. Puck drop is at 3PM MT.

-Rasmus Andersson was handed a four game suspension by the NHL Department of Player Safety yesterday for his hit on Patrik Laine at the end of the Flames 3-1 loss to Columbus on Friday. According to Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 the Flames plan on appealing the suspension in hopes of getting it reduced.

-In other news, there’s a rumor floating around that the Flames and Noah Hanifin and very close to a contract extension. It was reported that Hanifin wasn’t going to re-sign and there was talk about him asking for a trade, but that seems to be dying down. Sportnet and HNIC’s Elliotte Friedman is reporting that the club and player are almost at an agreement on a new contract. This is good news for the club, as Hanifin is one of their best defenders and would be difficult to replace. That just leaves Elias Lindholm and his contract twisting in the wind.
